Sizzling Flavours at Reunion Bar & BBQ – 108 Carlton Gore Road

Our recent visit to Reunion Bar & BBQ on Carlton Gore Road was a feast for the senses. Specialising in Chinese-style BBQ, this vibrant spot served up bold flavours and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made for a truly memorable evening.

We started with the BBQ beef, mixed with fresh mint—a surprising combination that worked beautifully. The yellow kumara followed, grilled until sweet and caramelised. But the standout dish for me was the spicy squid—fiery, full of flavour, and perfectly cooked. (Check out the pics—it was as good as it looks!) The meal finished on a high with ox tongue: thinly sliced, rich, and deeply savoury.

The sesame dipping sauce was the hero of the table—nutty, slightly sweet, and a perfect pairing for everything we tried.

A big part of what made the evening so enjoyable was the extremely friendly staff. We had some lovely chats throughout the night. Special thanks to Chloe—you were fantastic and kept us well hydrated with icy hazy pale ales.

P.S. Reunion Bar also hides a secret: a daytime bakery serving delicious coffee and baked goods. Think Portuguese tarts, almond-filled croissants, and more. We’ll definitely be back—day and night.

P.P.S. Thanks to Peter for being my chaperone on our visit to Reunion Bar & BBQ.
