Can New Zealand Win the World T20?

With the ICC World T20 fast approaching, can New Zealand fend off other top cricketing nations, such as India, Australia, Pakistan, England, and the West Indies, to lift the trophy?

The upcoming ICC men’s T20 World Cup (formerly the ICC World Twenty20) in Australia will see 16 of the world’s top cricketing nations competing against each other in a group stage tournament. Some of the biggest names in this year’s T20, which is scheduled to get underway in October, are India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa.

The question being asked by many cricket fans is can New Zealand win the 2022 T20 World Cup? It’s early days yet, but a growing number of major sports betting sites currently have relatively favourable odds for the Black Caps, and most have them at around fourth favourites to win the event outright.

What are the chances of New Zealand actually winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2022?

To really get a better understanding of how likely it is that New Zealand will win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2022, which kicks off in Australia on October 16th, the best thing to do would be to look to some of the major sports betting sites and refer to their odds. For example, at many of today’s most trusted online bookies, the New Zealand men’s national team are currently around the fourth favourite to win outright. If you were to look at sites such as the Mr Green betting platform for example, you would see that the odds of New Zealand winning are around +700 (in American/Moneyline odds), which equates to 7/1 in UK fractional odds and to 8.00 in European decimal odds. In comparison, The current favourites to win the T20 this year are India with +275 odds (which is 11/4, or 3.75). The second favourites to win, just behind India, are Australia with +333 odds (10/3, or 4.33), and you then have England to win at +350 (7/2 or 4.50).

Which other teams are scheduled to play? The other teams that are also in the running are Pakistan, South Africa, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia, Scotland, and UAE (United Arab Emirates). The team that’s least likely to win is the UAE, with +200,000 (2,000/1 or 2,001.00) odds. If you were looking for an outsider, you would go for the UAE. Scotland and Namibia also both currently have terrible odds of winning outright. Both nations are currently priced at +100,000 (1000/1 or 1,001.00) to win, which means they are just behind the UAE in terms of teams that are least likely to win. New Zealand will play their opening game against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on October 18th. The Black Caps will then go on to play Afghanistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 26th, and then against England at The Gabba in Brisbane on November 1st. Don’t forget that you can already start booking your tickets for some of New Zealand’s upcoming matches from a variety of trusted online ticket sellers.
