Little Sicilly on the Penrose Riviera.

Quite honestly, I stumbled on this cool looking Cucina caravan when I was killing time before a client appointment. Just the look of the bright funky orange panels reeled me in. (Continued below).

“Little Sicily” is the brainchild of long time friends Steve Gilberd and David Perillo who with more than seventy years of food and hospitality experience between them. Here they have created an authentic mobile “Cucina” inspired by the post-war, southern Italian adventures of Davids late father, Sebastiano Cesare Perillo who departed Italy in 1950 from Palermo, Sicily for New Zealand after World war II.

The southern Italian inspired street kitchen “Little Sicily” is now located in Penrose, Auckland. A fresh and authentic selection of the best in Italian food is cleverly hidden but no doubt set to be one of the coolest places to be this Summer. Dine-in or takeaway, Catering and events. They are also on Ubereats and you can get that yummy food delivered to your door. It isn’t just the food it’s such a cool, fun, urban industrial location that you can’t help but feel at ease. Why not sit on the grassy bank and enjoy an Arancini ball or Marguerita Pizza. The best-kept secret picnic spot in Auckland (but not for long). A great place for a family outing at lunch, or a cool date place for the evenings.

Dave and Steve reckon “We make people happy every day with our food experience. Our philosophy being quite simply if it’s worth eating, it’s worth eating well. Come for lunch, stay for dinner. Buon Appetito!
