There will always be another train
I take the train to work. I like the simplicity and ease of use. I don’t have to concentrate on traffic or get stressed out by inconsiderate drivers.
In the mornings, trains are leaving almost every 10 minutes, which means plenty of trains and no need to hurry.
This morning I arrived at the station at a time when the train just departed. I missed it by less than a minute. First I was slightly annoyed and wished I had left earlier to catch this train. It did not keep my mind occupied for too long though as the next train was due only 9 minutes later. It was a sunny morning and I actually quite enjoyed being outside.
Few minutes later I was amused by my initial thought of leaving home earlier from now on. Because if I had instead left even a minute later, I wouldn’t have even seen the train depart in front of my nose without me. Which means I wouldn’t have been upset, quite the opposite. I would have looked at the timetable display and been happy that my train would arrive shortly.
Having some extra time outside to enjoy the lovely morning sun wouldn’t have even crossed my mind.
We should all learn to slow down a bit. Enjoy the time we have and make the best out of each moment. There is no rush. There will always be another train.
